Iverson started the charity event in his hometown of Hampton, Va., and held it for a stretch in Washington. The Classic has included both softball and basketball games.
“I am honored to have been selected as a member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2016,” Iverson said in a press release. “I would not be in this position if not for all my fans around the world, but especially my fans in Philadelphia. Bringing my Celebrity Classic back to Philadelphia gives me a unique opportunity to celebrate with my fans and give back to the community at the same time. This opportunity is a win-win. This is a year of celebration.”
